Surfing India, Andhra Pradesh
When surfing India you need to check out Visakhapatnam. There are 5 quality breaks within 20 kms of the city. Rushi Konda is a local favorite and offers consistent swell year round. For more information and assistance planning a trip contact us: dkdelaughter@gmail.com!

May 2012
One of the things I love about surfing is that I get the opportunity to spend time with my son. Visakhapatnam is a great location for beginners. Our waves have plenty of power but not too steep or critical on the take offs. My son improves every time we are in the water. He is working on his top turns and perfecting heading down the line.

Big Swell, Dec 2011
Vizag can get some big waves from time to time. This is during a typhoon that rolled through at the end of last year. If you are an adrenaline junkie these are your kind of waves. I had one of the best rides of my life durning this swell. I also broke one of my favorite boards, it happens! Here is a picture of what we paddled out into... Surfing ROCKS!

RK Beach, Vizag
Rama Krishna Beach - beach break, short rights and lefts, easy paddle out! This break is right in the heart of Visakhapatnam city. Translation: not the cleanest beach. However, when the swell is coming in from the north, it brings clean, fresh water and makes this spot one of the best beach breaks we have in Vizag.

Rama Krishna Beach
Beach breaks at Rama Krishna Beach in January! It's hard to believe but we have had decent knee high plus waves. Opposite the local YMCA the wave breaks fast left and closes out. Makes for some great fun and is always guaranteed to draw a crowd. RK Beach has three locations to check out. (1-YMCA, 2- Submarine, 3- Novotel)
Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka
When the surf is flat in Vizag, there are beautiful beaches nearby. My family and I took a surfing vacation to Hikkaduwa, Sri Lanka. The surfing was amazing, the water clear, and the food amazing...culture awesome. We will definitely go back. We stayed at Drifters Hotel. ($65 per day for a triple/AC during high season) There are several surf points but my favorite was in front of Mambo's. Point break off the reef. Head high both right and left. The wave peaks suddenly off the reef making for steep drops with good power and consistency.
